Big Brothers Big Sisters, Ontario- Peel Region

Game On! Eat Smart, Play Smart, Live Smart uses a mentor approach to provide boys ages 11-14 with information and support to make informed choices about a range of healthy lifestyle practices. Through non-traditional physical activities, complemented with healthy eating support, 100-120 participants will have the opportunity to become involved in lifestyle decision making and develop habits for regular physical activity.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel Region will partner with the University of Toronto Mississauga Concurrent Education Program and the Guelph-Humber University Justice Studies Program to assist in successfully recruiting new male mentors to this program as the students can complete volunteer hours in their roles as Game On! mentors.

The grant is made possible through the fundraising efforts of Bramalea City Centre GoodLife Fitness members and associates during the 2012 Be A Kid’s Superhero Campaign.

Today we're celebrating the #SummerSolstice and #InternationalYogaDay Yoga is an awesome way to help kids develop important physical and mental skills - and it can be easily adapted for all ages and abilities! For younger children, keep practices short and use stories and familiar animals or objects as cues for them to mimic with their poses. For older kids, try building to some more challenging balancing poses or turn inwards to focus on the stress-relieving benefits of the practice. #activekids #yoga
