KIA is school-wide, fully inclusive, multi-part program for all 258 students in grades K – 4.  With a significant portion of the school community from low socio-economic background and single family homes, many of the students do not have opportunities for physical activity programs outside of school.  KIA has been successful at filling that void for the last 10 years, providing students with physical activities that take place each day, including lunch hour and after school.  Special Fit Friday noon hour activities include members of the community introducing new activities to students. All program activities emphasize fun, fitness, basic skills, friendship and fair play.

Today we're celebrating the #SummerSolstice and #InternationalYogaDay Yoga is an awesome way to help kids develop important physical and mental skills - and it can be easily adapted for all ages and abilities! For younger children, keep practices short and use stories and familiar animals or objects as cues for them to mimic with their poses. For older kids, try building to some more challenging balancing poses or turn inwards to focus on the stress-relieving benefits of the practice. #activekids #yoga
