Kate Chegwin Junior High School, Alberta- Edmonton

Currently Kate Chegwin Junior High teachers offer students an opportunity for additional physical activity in the school hallways.  This limits the kind of instruction and activities that can be offered, and the number of students that may participate.  The Youth Health & Wellness Initiative is focused on providing a space where all students can access a wide array of fitness equipment and instruction both during and after school, in a free safe environment.

Students will also benefit from instruction provided by a nutritionist, special program instructors and guest speakers who will address topics related to health, wellness and physical activity. The goal in the first year is to have 100 students regularly participating in fitness activities in the space.
