KidsAbility Centre for Child Development Foundation- Ontario, Waterloo

GoodLife Kids Foundation is supporting KidsAbility’s iCan Bike program for children in Waterloo Region, Guelph Wellington and surrounding areas.

The freedom and exhilaration of riding a bike is something that every child should experience. iCan Bike is a specialized program designed to teach children with special needs ages 8 and up how to ride a two-wheeled bike without training wheels. Participants ride adapted bicycles for 75 minutes for 5 days, gradually transitioning to their own two-wheeled bike. The ultimate goal of the program is to have all 40 participants riding their own bike independently. Learning to ride a bike has a positive impact on self-confidence, while enabling a sense of freedom and independence- something these children do not get to experience often enough.

Today we're celebrating the #SummerSolstice and #InternationalYogaDay Yoga is an awesome way to help kids develop important physical and mental skills - and it can be easily adapted for all ages and abilities! For younger children, keep practices short and use stories and familiar animals or objects as cues for them to mimic with their poses. For older kids, try building to some more challenging balancing poses or turn inwards to focus on the stress-relieving benefits of the practice. #activekids #yoga
