KidSport, British Columbia- Maple Ridge

The Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows communities are largely rural and rely greatly on commuting. For many families, who are lacking financial support and transportation means, the new KidSport chapter in Maple Ridge presents a great opportunity for community growth.

A grant to KidSport Maple Ridge will make it possible to kids to participate in organized sport by offsetting registration costs for kids lacking financial support, giving them the opportunity to develop lifelong habits of physical activity.

This grant was made possible by the outstanding fundraising efforts of Pitt Meadows Meadowtown GoodLife Fitness Club members and staff during the 2011 Be A Kid’s Superhero Campaign.

On this final day of #NationalVolunteerWeek, we'd like to introduce you to one of our all-stars. Dr. Dick Barter is a force to be reckoned with. An emergency room physician and group fitness instructor, Dick knows the importance of physical activity in children's' lives. He is the man behind #Spin4Kids - the fundraiser started in St. John's, NL and has since inspired others event locations across the country to rally behind our cause. Under Dick's leadership over the years, the St. John's event alone has raised nearly $700,000 and is always a big party! Dick's passion has been key to bringing us to the next level... he truly is a man with a plan 🌟 #NVW2017 #VolunteeringEh? #Gratitude
