Laugh?Exercise? And?Play (LEAP) aspires to give students the chance to have fun and get fit while playing. With an aim to reach out to children who may not otherwise have a chance to be involved in sport or fitness through a free before-school fitness program offered twice a week. The 30 minute program will be structured to include running, field games and introduction to a variety of sports. But it will also give the children the chance to experience the joy of active play, with hopes of teaching them games they can then play with friends and family

LEAP was inspired by Silken Laumann’s book, Child’s Play, which emphasizes the importance of getting kids active through unstructured play and the role of the school community in making this happen.
