Maritime Heart Centre, Nova Scotia- Halifax

GoodLife Kids Foundation is supporting the Maritime Heart Centre’s Heart Healthy Kids program.

Heart Healthy Kids (H2K) is a program targeting children in grades 4-6 and aims to address the issue of inactivity. The program has 4 components- a secure website where participants can track their progress, peer mentoring to encourage each other, H2K club, school assemblies and education session with medical professionals.

The key area of focus is on the peer led daily physical activities which are tracked online. Teams compete against one another in virtual “distance traveled”. It is anticipate that over 800 children will participate in the Halifax Regional Municipality in the 2013/2014 school year.
