Summer Swimming Lessons in the Lake addresses the need in these lake communities in rural areas for children to have adequate swimming skills and confidence in the water. Children who are confident in the water and have learned adequate swimming skills influence an increase in family visits to local lakes and make swimming a routine part of their spring and summer activity.

The lessons are facilitated by qualified Red Cross Water Safety Instructors and will offer eight weeks of lessons for 150 participants ages 3 to 14.

On this final day of #NationalVolunteerWeek, we'd like to introduce you to one of our all-stars. Dr. Dick Barter is a force to be reckoned with. An emergency room physician and group fitness instructor, Dick knows the importance of physical activity in children's' lives. He is the man behind #Spin4Kids - the fundraiser started in St. John's, NL and has since inspired others event locations across the country to rally behind our cause. Under Dick's leadership over the years, the St. John's event alone has raised nearly $700,000 and is always a big party! Dick's passion has been key to bringing us to the next level... he truly is a man with a plan šŸŒŸ #NVW2017 #VolunteeringEh? #Gratitude
