Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre - Ontario, Ottawa

GoodLife Kids Foundation is supporting the Run Jump Throw program at the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre. Offered as part of the Recreation Therapy Program, Run Jump Throw is designed to teach fundamental movement skills that form the basis of many different sports such as basketball, track & field and baseball. For children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, trying new things can be overwhelming. A high staff-client ratio, use of adaptive equipment and opportunities to engage with the wider community make this program unique. Over the course of 8 weeks, children with autism will be inspired to engage in a healthy active lifestyle and will be prepared to participate more fully in recreational activities in their community.

On this final day of #NationalVolunteerWeek, we'd like to introduce you to one of our all-stars. Dr. Dick Barter is a force to be reckoned with. An emergency room physician and group fitness instructor, Dick knows the importance of physical activity in children's' lives. He is the man behind #Spin4Kids - the fundraiser started in St. John's, NL and has since inspired others event locations across the country to rally behind our cause. Under Dick's leadership over the years, the St. John's event alone has raised nearly $700,000 and is always a big party! Dick's passion has been key to bringing us to the next level... he truly is a man with a plan 🌟 #NVW2017 #VolunteeringEh? #Gratitude
