West Ferris Intermediate Secondary School- Ontario, North Bay

GoodLife Kids Foundation is supporting West Ferris Intermediate Secondary School’s Bike Program. The Bike Program is for youth (ages 12-14), with various special needs. The program seeks to encourage students with special needs to learn to navigate the community in a healthy and cost effective way. Cycling is an effective way to embed healthy living practices into the participant’s daily routines. Learning to cycle and navigate the community provides them with a life skill that will benefit their long term fitness and save money on transportation as well as offer them a level of independence which may otherwise never be part of their lives. Funds from GoodLife Kids Foundation will support the growth of this program and ensure it is available for students on an annual basis.

On this final day of #NationalVolunteerWeek, we'd like to introduce you to one of our all-stars. Dr. Dick Barter is a force to be reckoned with. An emergency room physician and group fitness instructor, Dick knows the importance of physical activity in children's' lives. He is the man behind #Spin4Kids - the fundraiser started in St. John's, NL and has since inspired others event locations across the country to rally behind our cause. Under Dick's leadership over the years, the St. John's event alone has raised nearly $700,000 and is always a big party! Dick's passion has been key to bringing us to the next level... he truly is a man with a plan 🌟 #NVW2017 #VolunteeringEh? #Gratitude
